Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz – Cashapampa – Llamacorral Camp

After an early departure from Huaraz, travel by private vehicle to the village of Cashapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft), the starting point of the Santa Cruz Trek. Begin hiking through the scenic Santa Cruz Valley, following a well-defined trail alongside the river as the landscape gradually opens to spectacular mountain views.

Pass traditional farming areas before entering the heart of Huascarán National Park. Arrive at Llamacorral Camp, surrounded by impressive granite peaks, where the trekking crew prepares dinner and your first overnight camp.

Day 2: Llamacorral – Arhuaycocha – Taullipampa Camp

After breakfast, continue through the beautiful Santa Cruz Valley toward Taullipampa Camp. Along the way, enjoy optional views of Lake Arhuaycocha, located beneath the dramatic north face of Alpamayo and surrounded by spectacular glaciers.

The trail passes lush meadows, crystal-clear streams, and towering peaks before reaching Taullipampa, one of the most scenic campsites in the Cordillera Blanca.

Day 3: Taullipampa – Punta Unión Pass – Paria Camp

Today is the highlight of the trek. Ascend gradually to Punta Unión Pass (4,750 m / 15,584 ft), the highest point of the route. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, glaciers, and deep valleys that make the Santa Cruz Trek one of the world’s finest alpine hikes.

After spending time at the pass, descend into the Huaripampa Valley and continue to Paria Camp, where you’ll spend the final night under the Andean sky.

Day 4: Paria – Vaquería – Huaraz

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed hike through picturesque Andean landscapes toward the village of Vaquería, where private transportation awaits.

On the return journey to Huaraz, cross the spectacular Portachuelo de Llanganuco Pass (4,767 m / 15,640 ft), offering unforgettable views of Huascarán, Huandoy, and the famous turquoise Llanganuco Lakes before arriving back in Huaraz.
